Any suggestions on how I would get from the Amtrak station in Hartford, to the Hartford airport? They're about 11 miles apart.

Amtrak station
One Union Place
Hartford, CT 06103

I'll be renting a car at the Hartford airport, but don't have a way to get there. There is a car rental company at the Amtrak station, but they close before my train gets there. No other car rental locations would work, because you have to pay more to drop a car off at a different location then where you picked it up--I will be dropping the car off at the airport and flying out two days later.

Any suggestions? I've tried looking up shuttle services, but it seems there are only two online and they run about $45. I'd be willing to take a taxi, but I'm afraid the fare would be even more. Is there any kind of bus or shuttle that runs between the two?

Thank you for your suggestions!

There is public transportation to the airport but for some reason many people have never heard of it. CT Transit operates a bus called the Bradley Flyer which does a downtown to BDL run. Google "CT Transit Bradley Flyer" to see if it operates at the time your train comes in.

A cab is probably your best bet. The other day I saw a story about how people taking cabs in Hartford is down. Maybe if you call a company in advance you can get a deal.

Problem solved: MAtheBanker didn't realize that the airport was in Windsor Locks. Instead of taking the train to Hartford, she'll get off at the Windsor Locks station, which is a hop/skip/jump over to the airport.

is she supposed to walk from Windsor Locks Amtrak to BDL in order to effectuate the 'hop/skip/jump' part of her journey?

Just in case anyone comes across this thread later and needs an answer to the very question I asked, I called AAA Cab (Taxi Bradley Airport Connecticut Glastonbury Simsbury Avon) once I got off the train at Windsor Locks, and they showed up within in 5 minutes (literally) and charged $14. Very easy
