Make/model of computer?
Best option is to visit the mfg's website and download all necessary drivers and burn to CD before you actually need them. Depending on your computer there may be no point in having them backed up as a system recovery will restore the drivers as part of the process.
Last year I bought this refurbished Dell with Windows 7. Subsequently, due to my careless downloads I acquired malware which caused many problems. I want to uninstall Windows 7 and reinstall it. It was already installed when bought, but the disc was also sent.
enter that number, then select which version of Windows you have, and you can download the drivers. Keep in mind there may be multiple versions of the same driver listed, just get the newest one. And there may be some listed that you don't need. Just match up things like the video or network drivers with what you have listed in Device Manager.
I don't see a sticker. I didn't buy it from Dell, but from a certified seller who refurbishes Dell computers. What would happen if I uninstall windows 7 without backing up those drivers? I'm tired right now, so should postpone doing anything, I suppose.
Doesn't matter where it came from, it should have a service tag number on it somewhere. If you wipe & reload, you may end up unable to access the internet due to missing network drivers.
If I don't remove anything, can a new Windows 7 be installed over the old one and not be affected by the virus in the old one?
Depends on how you do it, but if you're reinstalling due to a virus/malware a format is the best option.
If you reinstall Windows with the method that negates the malware you still have to reinstall all of your programs so there isn't much point.
