The few sites that have site served advertising don't have to deal with the problem. The "banner ad" "pop-up, pop-under" model of advertising sends the bulk of the revenue to the advertising aggregator and not to the site. If you really like a site, donate a buck. You'll be paying them ten times what they would ever get out of you in ad revenue.
I would have a hard time finding a "donate to youtube" button. I don't think that sites like youtube or twitch are even close to fully funded by ads, but the content creators on twitch do see decent ad revenue and if they are trying to make a living doing what they do, I don't mind watching a 10 second ad to earn them a half a penny or whatever. Even if they get 1/10th of what they should, it's not my position to negotiate ad worth.

I do subscribe to things that I frequent (like kripparian's twitch channel, for instance). To take his stream as an example, he usually has around 10k viewers at any given time throughout his stream. If he made half a penny from each person watching an ad, he'd get 50 bucks each time he ran an ad. He usually runs 4 rounds of ads per night (he's on around 8 hours so one 30 second ad every 2 hours) so those ad views add up. Of course, the vast majority of his watchers don't watch the ad because they use ABP or another adblocker. So instead of the 200 or so bucks a night he probably only sees 10-20 bucks.

And if he's a good businessman he took this into account when he made the business plan. If he didn't then it's no ones fault but his own if he's not making as much as he expected.

Adblock plus works fine.

I use the bold items.
Same here. I also use the tool I created at work to download and update the list of known malicious domains list using MDBL (Malware Domain Block List) script. I think I shared it before but I will share it again in case if anyone is interested.

Again, that is not my problem. The point is he runs ads to support himself, and I watch the ads to support the stream.

Not trying to imply anything. I'm trying to get a picture to show up. I copied it to a different album on CD. Maybe this will work.

Sorry, it is not you, it is the file. I tried it at home and got the same error. During zipping or more so uploading it to box.com (file sharing site) the file must have become corrupt. C-D won't let me upload it direct due to its size but let me see if I can upload it to another site.

OK, let's try this again: MDBL.zip

PS. I checked this one and it is good!

Aha. Apparently it does work for at least one thing -- No more annoying ads before music videos on YouTube. Not even the dreaded Vevo clips.

I was always confused with YouTube comments about them "annoying ads" and wondered wth people were talking about!

Anyhow, AB+ is really helpful but to improve or supplement it, you really ought to get NoScript too.
