Photo gallery problems (email, Windows, click, download)

My nephew placed some photos with my camera in the photo gallery in my pc, and now when I go to my Yahoo email, and need to download anything sent to me, this is what I get:

Photo Gallery can't open this photo video. This file format is not supported, or you don't have the latest updates to photo gallery.

I went into support/help from Windows and Microsoft trying to find updates for photo gallery, and could not find any. And was not able to get any help. I need help, please.

And my nephew is in Florida vacationing....... Thank you,

You aren't trying to "download" the file being sent to you by clicking open with photo gallery are you?

I thought that my nephew had made Windows Live Photo Gallery the Default, but it seems it is Windows Photo Gallery, the one he placed as Default.

If not, what do you suggest? Thank you,

And yes, that is exactly what I tried to do: open the file, but it seems Photo Gallery is already there. thanks,

Save it to your computer, scan it for viruses (do this every time you download anything), and see if it will open normally when it's on your computer. You can also try opening it with windows photo viewer.

If it opens normally with the windows version, and if it opens normally when you have downloaded it, then I'd guess that your Photo Gallery isn't playing nice with the Yahoo mail system.
