Can anyone please tell me how the SW side of columbus is(43228 zip code). A co-worker said it was a fairly safe area but then another person I talked to said it wasn't all that safe. i don't have kids so schools isn't an issue.

It's a very industrial and ugly part of town. Outside I-270, it's probably safe enough, but it still looks like a dump.

It is safe enough, it is not all ugly, that is a generalization by someone.

There are many homes and apartments that are liveable there.

I agree one really can't generalize about all of SW Columbus and say it's "ugly" or whatnot.

Yes, there are many light industrial areas out around 43228, mostly large shipping/warehouse/distribution facilities. The world HQ of Big Lots is located just north of Broad St. along Phillipi Rd.

There's also a lot of affordable housing in the area. Galloway, Lincoln Village/Rome (and the formerly-incorporated little speed trap of New Rome, now thankfully gone), and the many spread-out neighborhoods along Norton and Hall Rds. are all decent places to find housing.

Grove City is kindof a world unto itself, a growing suburb that retains much of its "country" atmosphere and appeals to people from all walks of life. Beulah Park racetrack is there, where they have thoroughbred racing as well as concerts.

As you get further out into the countryside, SW Franklin County is beautiful. Battelle-Darby Metro Park, largest of all the metro parks, is out that way. This is one of the few outlying parts of the county that hasn't been taken over by developers and filled with sprawling suburban ticky-tack.

Finally...if you're worried about safety, definitely stay west of Georgesville/Phillipi Rds. and south of Clime Rd. North and east of those roads is ghetto. Actually, your best bet would be just to remain outside of 270.

Best of luck to you!
