I plan to move to Columbus within the next 6 mos. to a year from eastern NC. I would like to live in a nice, safe, diverse neighborhood, but would also really rather avoid the suburbs. I want my son, who may be 6 by then, to be able to experience more culture than he does now in my small NC town once we move to Columbus, so I want to be in the city. But I also need the neighborhood to be appropriate to raise a young child. A neighborhood near good schools, public or private, would be a plus also!

I can offer many good neighborhoods in columbus with good columbus schools and private. What kind of housing stock would you like? Columbus has neighborhoods that are nice and safe that were built from the 1800s to 2008. Right off the bat I can say Clintonville would be great. Clinton Elementary is ranked highly and is getting a total renovation. Clintonville has homes built mostly pre WWII and some nice apartments. All homes and apartments are renovated, there's parks, a nice library, and many families.
