I was visiting a friend in Pittsburgh the week of 7/17 when he had a meeting in Columbus. He asked if I wanted to ride along. On the way, he dropped me off downtown. I was to meet him at The Ohio State University campus to the north.

The camera does not show this, but it was brutally hot and humid. That's OK, I'll manage. I'm from Texas. I do this all the time.

Let's see if I can make it without melting.

I made it. Thanks for taking a look at this. Maybe next time I'll have more time to spend in your fine city.

Great shots man. Seriously, you did us justice. I'm constantly amazed at the never ending construction of new buildings and businesses that I didn't even know about. What's going up there at 5th ave, and I presume High? What's being built next to Adriatico's Pizza?
One suggestion, can you copy and paste your post into the *Sticky* Picture thread at the top of this forum? That way it will be saved with other photos, and yours are definitely worth saving. Good job

Just posted it there. Thanks.

Not sure what that is being built. Looks like a store of some sort. Pretty sure that's 5th and High. The lot next to Adriatico's was just a fenced-in pit with heavy machinery. Don't recall seeing a sign saying what it was, but at that point I was getting a bit tired and was hunting for water by then.

Really get a fun vibe out of the Short North. It was a weekday afternoon and it was probably the hottest day of your summer, plus school was out, so I know it's not always that empty.

This was fun. I was dropped off on a street corner in a strange city's downtown, only having seen Columbus through photos and a glance at Google Maps to plot my course. After having learned more about the place, I see I missed a lot of interesting stuff by mere blocks.

The 5th and High is Out of the Closet, a thrift shop and clinic.

Not sure what's going on next to the pizza place.

Hello again Cbus. Next month I'll be moving to the Dayton/Springfield area. As such, it looks like I'll have more time to look around your city next time I'm there.

Great pics!! Whay type of camera did you use?
And for those who asked, the construction next to Adrioticos was actually a demolition of the building that was there. It used to be uniprint 7+ years ago. Then it was just an empty building. Now it is gone.

Every time I go through downtown or the short north, it changes.

I bet a lot of that construction will be complete when I see it, if it isn't already.

I use a Canon Rebel XS. A lot of this shoot involved a 70-200mm Sigma zoom lens.

The weather ought to be pleasant when I get there, with leaves possibly turning by then. We don't have autumn where I come from, so it'll be nice.
