Hello,

This might seem like a strange question, but, oh well. My wife and I have recently moved to Columbus. We picked Columbus mostly because we wanted a bigger city but did not want to leave Ohio. We enjoy the city, but we are having some trouble meeting other people in the community. Can anyone give me some clues as to how to meet other couples? Neither of us have been active in a church before, she works odd hours and I commute to a job north of Marion. Making friends at work or church seems to be out of the question. Any other suggestions? Thanks for any help!

Do you play any sports? There are many recreational leagues around Columbus. How about reading? You could join a book club. Check out meetup.com. Lots of different social groups on there. Fans of any sports team? There are alumni groups everywhere in Cbus for different college teams. Good luck!

I have to second the meetup.com option - there are loads of groups on there. I've joined a moms group with my toddler through meetup.com since we moved here and it has been a wonderful way to meet people. There are plenty of other groups on there outside of parent/kid ones.

Lots of recreational sports, agree there! You might consider taking cooking classes at the north market or attending the young professional happy hours or the columbus underground meet-ups. Maybe start volunteering somewhere together? Might meet some people that way!
