I have been reading some of the blogs about columbia and I think I would love it here. I am wondering about the fort jackson base where my husband would be employed. Is this part of SC family friendly and safe? I am looking for southern hospitality, friendly, somewhere to call home that is beautiful. Is this the right place for me and my family?
The only people that can truly decide if this is the right place for you and your family to call home is you really. There are a lot of really nice areas throughout Columbia. Fort Jackson is in Seatheast Columbia and there would be plenty of options there to buy or rent, such as Rosewood or Shandon and there are new home communities there also like Willow Tree.
You would also be close to Northeast Columbia, and there is a wide variety of communities in the Northeast to choose from as well that would put you within 20 minutes of the fort. Lake Carolina and Brookhaven just to name a couple are located in Northeast Columbia. It all really depends on what you are looking for in a community and an area of town.
I love it here in Columbia and I have lived in Northeast, SOutheast, and in Blythewood. You should visit us and see what you think of the place and if it is what you want in a town and a community.
