I just had an interview for a position at Crayton Middle School in the Richland One school district and if I get the job, I'll need to find an apartment pretty quickly and being a recent graduate, money is a factor. I'm hoping some of you, who know the area better, can help me find good apartments that I'll be able to pay for without breaking the bank. I don't know the area well, I really don't know whether to commute or to get something close by. I don't mind a commute, as long as it's less than 30 minutes. I'm looking for an apartment in the price range between $400-$800? I prefer an efficiency/studio/1bed apartment. Any help that you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

I'd contact one of the local real estate companies that has a lot of duplex/quadruplex rentals. You'll find nothing decent for $400 a month, but you can find some decent 1 bedrooms or studios for $800 per month. Avoid Percival Road. I'd check on small apartments in the Shandon/Rosewood area or small rental houses/apartments in Forest Acres, which is where Crayton is located.

There is a condo building near Five Points called The Hermitage. A friend's mother lives there. Nice building in a secure and safe neighborhood. I do not know what a rental would cost but check it out.
