Hi all,

From the city-data.com stats, I've noticed a huge surplus of men in the 18-24 bracket. Does anyone know what explains this.... university for men, gay population, military base?? I'm almost sure there's not a prison in the area.
I'm a SWF who may relocate there.

Thanks!!
Theresa

School of Mines is a engineering school, you also have Coors Brewery and the Jefferson County government offices, including the county jail.

Males find beer very attractive.

if you will be working in Golden, i don't recommend living there. you might want to live a short drive away in Boulder or Denver (i'd say Boulder)

Nothing bad about Golden, there are just some much nicer areas very close to Golden. Why not West Arvada or Wheat Ridge?

lot's of men because of the school of mines, i assume but there are women here too.
not a bad place to live, more like a mountain town, but close to denver.
lots of mtn. biking out your front door, trail running, climbing, snowshoe or skiing depending on the winter and the kayak park downtown.
the downtown area is better than it was, some little local shops, mountaineering shop, a few restaurants/bars, a couple local coffee shops and of course the chains.
there is also a community center that has been remodeled and the city seems to be heading in the right direction.
the people are cool, there's quite a mix, normal folks i'd say.
average cost of home is around 400,000 and the prices keep rising but it really depends on what side of town you live in.
i love it!

Yep, the School of Mines is mostly male.... and then you have the macho bike riders who like to be close to the state parks and such to bike ride. It is close to Boulder too.....
