Getting some good precip in Mesa County. 5 inches at my place. still coming down. And I am VERY thankful for it. Grand Junction had come in with only 2.8 inches of precipitation for the year.

The snow is not over yet on the western slope. I live a ways from downtown Fruita, snow so far around 6 inches. I-70 was nasty all day, 10 p.m. news has said the interstate from DeBeque to Dotsero is shut down for the night due to a dozen wrecks. The wind gusts vary from town to town, Montrose peaked at 40 m.p.h. Palisade got 6 inches, Grand Mesa towns got 12 to 14 inches.

Am watching Butch McCain on KKCO-11, the NBC affiliate for the western slope. He said that Durango just had rain with temps around 50, same with Cortez. But as this storm is coming in from the southwest, Durango looks to get an inch or two out of this tomorrow.

Got another storm coming through Colorado; it's coming in 2 parts, at least in Mesa County anyway. The one coming in tomorrow is from the northwest. I looked at the Flagstaff weather page and they are getting a system in tonight, that one will hit the Grand Junction area Monday, looks like, and is calling for 16 to 20 inches of snow in the high country.

Am watching Fox31 right now, the storm is nasty between Denver and the Springs. Nothing in Mesa County, not even rain, with the exception of the Grand Mesa. 8 to 14 inches forecast for the high country.

Finally got some measurable snow here on the Western slope. Two inches of snow at my place. Hopefully more on the way later tonight.

I went to College in the Springs 1962-1966 and returned - to Boulder - from 1989-1996. I learned to ski in college. I loved the snow, but wish it lasted longer than on the Front Range. I grew up in Massachusetts where we had some huge Spring storms in the the 50s-early 60s. I vaguely remember the blizzard of 1947 when I was in Long Island. That was a lot of snow.

Now, I live in Copenhagen...since 1996. We've had one moderately large storm since I arrive, nothing in the last 5-10 years, thanks to climate change: warmer and wetter!
