Looks like at least 5” at this spot in the Four Corners, at elevation 6350’.

It’s been a long, long while since we had more than a dusting. PITA to shovel (there’s a big area that needs to be cleared), but I’m glad we got it.

Speaking of a dusting, that's all Mesa County got this morning. My next door neighbor told me he headed back from Rangely yesterday afternoon and said the cold front was one of those 50/50/50 events.

I'm familiar with the type. That's 50 raindrops. 50 snowflakes, and 50 m.p.h. winds. This afternoons 5 p.m. ABC broadcast showed the thunder snow that rolled through Steamboat Springs yesterday. I've been through a bunch of them.

The snow, or basically lack of snow is concerning, at least in Mesa county. There wasn't much precip that came out of this one but the front rolled through quickly. Interstate 70 was closed for a while yesterday afternoon because of the nasty conditions. That stretch westbound on 70 had problems besides the wind, a stretch of road westbound near Idaho Springs had cars at a 2 hour delay while C-DOT worked on that stretch.

Finally! Some measurable snow! A two part system rolling through the western slope, got two inches this morning. Cleared off this afternoon, is snowing right now, forecast calling for 1-2 inches. High country--it varies, 6 to 8 inches on Grand Mesa. Sounds like 10 to 12 inches in the SW mountains.

I'll take it.

Wowzers! For the first time in a few years the Grand Junction area is actually on accident alert. Two more inches at my house, KKCO-11 says other parts of the valley got more.

A small system is coming through Mesa County this morning. Looks like the bulk of this is north of I-70. 2-4 inches is forecast for the Grand Mesa. The state highways leading to Meeker and Rangley are pretty tricky this morning.

Nothing going on in Mesa County except the usual cold but I'm watching Fox-31 right now and they are reporting some ungodly winds in the high country and they say a wind advisory goes for the front range for today and tomorrow as well.

People are reporting hurricane-like winds in Buena Vista. There was a double fatality on Trout Creek Pass last night, probably due to blowing snow causing zero visibility.

The latest system rolling though the western slope rolled through Grand Junction and didn't do anything in town. Am watching Fox31 out of Denver and they are reporting that Durango thankfully is getting snow this morning. I'm happy that someone is anyway. Snow level is low, last night the NBC western slope affiliate KKCO was coming in with ski base levels--Wolf Creek-64 inches, Telluride-28 inches. We need more than that, for sure.
