After seeing a City-Data friend, La Junta Econ Develop this last Wednesday, I took off on a tour of Vogal Canyon. Hope you enjoy some of these;

Thanks for posting these spectacular photos - too many folks think the only beautiful places and wildernesses in Colorado are in the mountains.

Thx 4 checking them out. Sorry so many pics in one place. It took all my effort getting them here. Photobucket and flickr have too many adds for me to negotiate these days. Have to break down and spend monthly fees to upload pics anymore... and a faster computer would be nice too.

Here is why folks are fighting Pinon Canyon Expansion.

Great post of a beautiful part of Colorado.

And notice....he started off by going to the Comanche Grassland office, always a good place to start for information. It is located at 1402 East Third in La Junta; phone is 719-384-2181. Stop in and see those folks for some insights and do's and don'ts before journeying down to the actual grassland area south of La Junta. There is also a very scenic Carrizo Unit of the Grassland located in the Southeast Corner of the State and they have information about that at the 3rd street office in La Junta.

McGowdog....nice job of getting the word out about the Grassland area and Vogel Canyon. Was good to have you stop down. Keep up the good work on the Forum.

I think it looks great. I've been wanting to go out that way fro years. The best part is that it seems like no one would be there because 99.9% of the people think you have to go to the high country to look at grass and rocks.

PS: turn off the happy filter on the camera next time :-)

Well worth the journey. Koshare Indian Museum, Bent's Old Fort and Otero Museum are also in the area to fill in some time.
