We are a soon to be former military family currently living in the DC area. We are originally from UT and ID and have been in the DC area for 9 yrs. Too long for mountain folk :0). He is out of the military in July, but with the amount of leave we have saved up, we could be moving as early as 1 May. Our current dilemma is jobs... after a ton of research we have found that there are jobs out there for what he does... intelligence collection, analysis, and linguistics. But, we are having the hardest time getting responses from employers. We have been applying since 1 Jan. Is there anyone out there that knows anything about this line of work in COS? Are we stressing out too soon?
Thanks in advance for the info!

Default Welcome to city-data. Hope your move here is smooth....

Don't stress out... been there done that. Just get busy.... things to do now.

- Read the "Why Choose Colorado Springs" thread, lots of info. If you go through there, you'll have a good once-over the town. We came out of the DC area too (Chantilly, VA) in June 2005, hit the market right, sold quick and for a good price. "Why Choose..." is our story about how we did it...

- Hook up with a realtor back there now, it takes a while to get a home ready for the market. We had a great realtor in Fairfax, a long-time pro, if you want her contact info, PM me and I'll send it. There is a great discussion here in the CO forums (Denver pages?) on how to pick a realtor.

- Never too soon to start cleaning out the house as tons of stuff does accumulate. Do you know FreeCycle.org?

- There's a recent thread here on job hunting, the pro's and con's of having a local address. Lots of DoD jobs here. I used to have a TS clearance, one of these days I may try to use that old credential to find some work here, but right now having too much fun here on city-data. My neighbor runs the local office for clearance matters, they have a backlog, if you guys have a current clearance, esp for intel work, that's like MONEY in the bank....

- Use the Search this Forum tool, there is a ton of data here, easy to find, and we dislike answering the same questions over and over. But we are always glad to ADD new knowledge to the site.

You're Gonna Love Colorado....

Default Thanks

Mike,
Thanks for the info. Fortunately, we do not have the stress of selling a home out here... we live on post. But, some organization always helps.
We are planning a trip out there next month, we are really excited!
Thanks again!
