Oh, I do agree with you. It is very "blah" here and everyone in Northeast Ohio is famous for their "eh, whatever" attitude which hasn't helped. I don't love it, but I always try to look on the bright side. Nobody really LOVES NE Ohio, they're born here & don't want to leave their family.

Seriously? Crap! I'm moving to Ohio this summer.
Anyway, back on topic, I was going to suggest business, but it seems someone else has beat me to it.
What about becoming a lawyer? There are a lot of disciplines within law, not just underpaid prosecutor or sleazy defense lawyer. With psychology you generally need a Ph.D. to make any money at it.
Just as a throw in: all teenagers, all, hate where they're living, are bored there and can't wait to get out.
You've got some decent advice. One other thing from me, just because your parents are math whizzes doesn't mean you will or can be. Many parents don't recognize this.

True, or maybe you just might grow into it. My mom was a math wiz when she was a kid, but I always wasn't. I was honestly getting C's and D's in middle school. It wasn't until high school that I really became good at math and started to like it. But my English grades were always good in middle school, now they're slipping. lol. So I guess it was a trade off.
You can do it! I am a HR Graduate and I needed college math (remedials galore) and two semesters of biology and two labs.
Use Rate my professor dot com to your advantage ask the counselor which is the easiest course... you are not set to your college, can you take these at a community college?
I could not pass statistics, I ended up dropping..

There are much worse places to live. I get annoyed with people who think that Ohio is hell because it's not- I'd rather live in the laid back Midwest than congested, polluted & hot LA, for example. Plus it's dirt cheap here. Like, I know people who make $20,000 and less and can still live decently. Cedar Point is amazing, there are some cool nightclubs in Akron, Milcreek Park in Youngstown, pretty old buildings in Cleveland, and don't forget the Rock Hall & The Cavs. So no it's not awful but the economy is in the pits.
Just make sure you have a job. What part are you moving to?

You might consider marketing or advertising. I don't know how much math is involved, but if you're good, they will want you for your strengths. They can hire people to do the math.

What are you good at and what do you love?
I love writing. I've won awards for my creative writing, and I won an award at Kent for an article I wrote "on the spot" and had twenty minutes to write. However, journalism isn't the best field to get into right now.
I was told that Public Relations or advertising is the most logical route to take. I was thinking of maybe a double-major with Secondary english ed & PR/Advertising.

Portsmouth area.
I *think* that's near Kentucky. I heard Portsmouth is a quirky little town. Isn't that where Roy Rogers is from?
Conside the Hospitality industry.....Cornell or UNLV for a degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management.
