Oh, cry me a river! Students, supported by their parents, and never having had to fork out money for much of anything before they went to college, are complaining about the price of gas? And really, they are just doing what they should have been doing all along: biking, car-pooling, riding the bus and walking.
Hey now!! Some of us, ...uh me......are not supported by parents and are working to pay for school and paid for my car and yada yada. And i commute and do not have access to public transport. now thats not to say im bitching about gas prices...
I did ***** that my school cut down class days to save professor gas money. But anyway, that is really a bad generalization to make of students. And i dont live close enough to walk, or bike. When i did live close to campus, my car kept getting broken into.
OK, my apologies to all those who aren't being supported by parents. But you are in the minority, particularly of students 18-22 who live on campus. I have two kids in college myself.
I know quite a bit of kids who are not just living off mommy and daddy.
I have one friend who is but...kind of isn't.Her dad controls the money and it has to be a HUGE thing in order for her to get more money.
Even the kids I do know whose parents are paying for their education or whatnot, it's not like their parents give them bundles of money each month and let them go crazy with it.
They have to budget like so many others do.
I currently attend community college and it's true my mom is mainly paying for my expenses (car note, car insurance, food, etc) but I pay for my own gas. I don't do a lot of driving but I spend about 88 a month on gas, give or take. My car is pretty good on gas but I wish the public transportation system was better so I wouldn't have to rely on my car so much.
I thought the article was a bit useless. Just about everyone is feeling squeezed by the current gas prices. There are some people in my area though who still want to push 50 going to the next stop sign or the next red light (I am not kidding you) so it's not hurting them TOO much.
