You may want to look at the Indeed job forums...from what I read Dental Hygienists schools have been oversaturating the market. A lot of people state they cannot find jobs. Also, I remember people working in the field stating how hard it is on the body ( repetitive).

I also like this forum because Indeed will list the top cities for the field you are looking into. I remember seeing Houston as being one of those cities, however, it only listed 15 jobs. You can also look into Dental Assisting.

I know that an associates degree is required for Dental Hygienists-nothing further..

Good luck

An associates degree is sufficient to become a hygienist. However, if u plan to further your education and possibly want to become a Dentist, you will need a bachelor's degree. I don't think there is much of a difference in pay between an associates or bachelor's degree. All just in whether ur going to want to further your education

I am a dental hygienist, and I love the patients I have and treat, but the working environment in these offices (I have been a hygienist for 35 years) is generally terrible. the dentists act like tyrants, they don't give raises, or bonuses, they micro manage everything, there are no benefits, they are the boss and anything you have to add is irrelevant. It's a super high stress job. The pay is good, but not good enough to offset the stress applied. Become an RN, or PA or nurse practitioner. Much more freedom and better working environments.

Hi. I applied for dental hygiene program at MCPHS. Anyone know when I will hear back from them for Fall 2017? Application deadline was Feb 1st. Also, would love any advice or comments about Dental Hygiene program as well. Thank you!
