Of course Manziel got paid - just no paper trail - too smart for that.
But I think it is hypocritical of the NCAA & the colleges to make millions off the kids and not let them benefit if they excel and generate more revenue.
Yes, I know they get a free ride scholly, but when a star player brings a ton more, the school (& NCAA) rake it in.....lots more than the costs of the scholarships.
It was a big amusement for everybody, but PLAY FOOTBALL!

The free ride scholly is all well and good. But let's be honest, the value of a college degree has diminished in a lot of ways. I say get money while you can as long as it's legal.
That being said, I'm actually glad he wasn't suspended longer. Just as a college football fan because I really want to see him against Bama again.
I'm pretty sure they've suspended players for longer with less proof. My guess is that Manziel is too important to his team and they do not want to ruin the ratings of the rematch with Bama.

Not sure about that.
But one source says that during the course of the investigation of Manziel and autograph brokers the NCAA found a long trail of college players who signed autographs for these same brokers. Probably no money trail. But the NCAA didn't want to open Pandora's box by exposing themselves to even more ridicule. If the other names came out - would the NCAA investigate all of them? Rule other players ineligible and restate wins and losses? They didn't want that.
So the decision rendered is probably a giant compromise that allows the NCAA to dish out a bit of punishment yet put the issue away. The NCAA doesn't want any one investigating THEM.

A&M is now truly in the SEC with only suspending Manziel for half a game. What a joke.
