Well...if you want to look at it from a very narrow viewpoint then that is your choice. But Eli has won two Super Bowls and was MVP both times. Newton and Stafford are both still very new to the league but both are very good QBs. Granted there aren't as many starting QBs from the SEC as there are from other leagues, but the SEC has produced some very good ones.
Stafford showed this season he has a long way to go. Look at his numbers down the stretch for the Lions and that's all you need to know.
A developing quarterback cannot win games by himself. He needs coaching and talent around him in order to succeed. Stafford's a legit quarterback, and maybe with a coaching staff that can instill more discipline and a more pervasive winning attitude, his luck might change. Detroit down the stretch was all Schwartz - a coach who had lost control of his team. Eventually, that catches up to a talented but still young and developing quarterback like Matt Stafford.
Matthew Stafford had a good 2015 season, and is having a killer 2016 season. He's a legit MVP candidate as of December this season.. Prescott is having a damn good rookie season.
Also think that AJ McCarron will be a good NFL starter if given the opportunity somewhere. We'll see.
