You also have to consider that Oklahoma is not an exciting place, so the players were distracted by all of the action on South Beach. Florida's players, on the other hand, are accustomed to South Beach since they get to go there for Spring Break, so they're not as easily distracted. Had the Sooners played in a distraction-free environment, I guarantee you it would have been another 60 point blowout.
The problem with that is, it was another SEC team that delivered the @ss kicking. It *was* surprising that LSU got shut out -- that I didn't see coming. But the first game showcased what Alabama was *capable* of doing, while last night, they actually went out and did the deed.
LSU kind of laid an egg, 'Bama played lights out. It happens. Overall a pretty crappy game IMO.
These bowl games are usually in New Orleans or Miami. And what do people eat in New Orleans and Miami? Creole and Cuban food. Since Oklahoma players weren't eating their usual diet, and had to eat Cuban food in Miami, they were at a distinct disadvantage. They were undoubtedly weakened by having to eat new, exotic food that may have messed up their stomachs. Teams like Florida that are used to eating Cuban food benefited from this.
i watched maybe 10 min total of this game. When i checked in the third quarter they were showing the "good hands" play of the game....it consisted of a hold for a field goal.....nuff said
The SEC champ sure looked like crap last night. I could only imagine the frothing at the mouth of sec fans if LSU happened to have been from a different power conference. "you couldn't even score a single point against the mighty sec!!" Goes to show, an SEC team can lay an egg in title games too.
Both Stanford/OK State and Oregon/Wisconsin were better games than Alabama/LSU.
Right, that's why LSU knocked the crap out of Oregon despite losing four of their starters.
I'd agree with you, though, if no tackling were allowed, but since tackling and defense actually are allowed in other conferences and BCS play, my money would be on Alabama and LSU.
I'm sure LSU would have won had they gotten to play in their own backyard.
You must have missed the multiple on-air and in-print comments about how the Superdome IS considered LSU's backyard.
Thing is...Alabama won their 12th national championship in the Superdome, and have played there many times over the years. You could argue it's a backyard for both teams.

You're REALLY reaching for it here.
An excuse, I mean.
Bless your heart.
