Kinda like my Mountaineers last night!!! didn't bring the A-Game and almost lost to Marshall!
Yeah, JMU is one of the powerhouses in 1-AA, they're consistently in the title hunt. Out of the past 6-8 years or something like that, the FCS title game has been from one of the teams in the CAA division (JMU's)

Despite all that - VT should never ever ever ever have lost to a 1AA/FCS team. It's flat out embarrassing for this team. Tyrod and Ryan Williams have way too much talent to get this kind of team play. It's one of the most talented teams we've had at VT, but I've never seen such a sloppy and poorly coached team- especially from the DL and special teams. We're used to having a crappy OL here, but not the Defensive units being as poor as they are. The only positive I can see from this season now, is that maybe Beamer finally gets the pressure and cajones to clean house a little and bring in some fresh faces on the coaching staff. Embarrassing all around....

With fewer scholarships than before, more of these upsets or parity if you will, is going to become more common. Overlooked this week: South Dakota 41 - Minnesota (Big Ten) 38. Last week, Jacksonville State beat Ole Miss (SEC) and North Dakota State beat Kansas (Big 12), who just beat 17th-ranked Florida State this week.

Kansas beat Georgia Tech, not Florida State (Oklahoma just beat Florida State)

If the Hokies dont get it together I think this could be coach Beamer's wrost season. Their schedule isnt a favored one either.

this are my pics

Boston College 12:00 PM ET L
Sat, Oct 2 @North Carolina State L
Sat, Oct 9 vsCentral Michigan W
Sat, Oct 16 vsWake Forest W
Sat, Oct 23 vsDuke W
Thu, Nov 4 vsGeorgia Tech L
Sat, Nov 13 @North Carolina 50-50 W/L
Sat, Nov 20 @#19 Miami (FL) L
Sat, Nov 27 vsVirginia W

Could this be a 6 loss season for the Hokies? And possibility of no bowl??

I see BC, NC State, and UNC being VT wins.

BC is okay, NCSU still sucks, and just because LSU (heh) made TJ Yates looks all-world, I never saw the big deal about UNC, suspensions or not.

VT got slaughted last yr at home vs BC, and VT losses start HB, and they are in Boston.

NCS is playin lights out for their level. Honestly VT has fallen to that level and looks like they are drowning.

UNC is a very gritty team. They play VT at home and if its a low scoring game then they have a better chance.

I understand this is an old thread.. but I thinkin' WTF Virginia Tech this morning.. They were at 4-5, and have struggled a lot at home this year. But now I'm feeling optimistic about their close.
They beat a ranked Duke on the road today (which gives them a pair of road wins against ranked opponents in Duke & Ohio State) and got them to .500. If they beat Wake & UVa, that'll be a 3-0 close within the conference, and give them a respectable 7-5 season. And looking back at their losses, VT took a close loss to what has turned out to be a legit Ga Tech squad.. so it doesn't seem as bad in retrospect, no (?)

I'm hoping I see some more of the Michael Brewer that engineered the great upset in Columbus. I'm rooting for the kid.

VT tight end Dalton Keene had a killer weekend vs Miami..
3 receiving TDs against Miami, and damn near had a 4th touchdown.
Good work ~

Virginia Tech blocks a closing FG, and return it for a game-winning TD.. except they had called one of those stupid last second timeouts to try and ice the kicker.. so Hokie TD is negated & Liberty gets another chance to win the game. This time Liberty runs a quick play to move their FG attempt in to more realistic range. Virginia Tech inexplicably plays an extremely soft pass defense. Liberty throws a quick pass, is now in manageable FG range.. they proceed to kick and win.
I assume Tech's defensive coordinator (Justin Hamilton) called the loose defense.. that gave away the game to Liberty (?) Big win for a (rising) program like Liberty, but serious ineptitude from VT's coaching staff.

Justin Fuente should've stayed at Memphis and waited another year or 2 to get a better job. That team the year he left was just as good if not better then the year he left and there's no way if he stays he doesn't get a better offer than what Tech gave him.
