TIA,

Just came across this website today, so don't know if my posting this info to you today is still timely for you. To touch base on all your question points:

1, schools-- Elizabeth City really is endowed with a decent diversity of schools on all levels-- 3 Colleges, 6 High Schools (?), 9 Middle Schools (??), 12 Elementary Schools (???). I'm sure there's a website that gives you these exact statistics; the numbers above are just my guesses except for the colleges-- that number is right.

2, jobs-- employment is kind of an outgrowth of and orientation around their Educational industry. jobs are not as plentiful and diverse as the Charlotte area, but Elizabeth City is on the grow with new industry probably not too far from making a major presence in the area. A SuperWalmart has surfaced and also a Fairfield Marriott, so I'd figure new restaurants would be next to come.

3, housing-- home building is on the grow too. even in the nation's slowing housing market, relocation to Elizabeth City is causing their housing market to maintain. it's not going gangbusters, but there are assortments of homes to select from newly built in the city to rural residences on the outskirts.
So hope this helps you some.
Sincere Regards, Soon2BNEC
