We are considering buying a little beach house or condo when we move to Charlotte. What are some nice areas that we should look at? I want to start researching now. I would like an area that would bring good rental income when we are not using it. I would also like it to be no further than 4 hours away to make life easier on the kids.

Charleston is about 2.5 to 3 hours away from Charlotte. This is actually closer to Charlotte than the NC beaches. If you are looking for a beach area, look at Isle of Palms, SC for a touristy front beach. Folly Beach, SC has a more laid back old beach type community with slightly smaller houses. Kiawah and Seabrook Island have the higher end homes and condos (Homes 2+ million). These would be my choices if I were to buy a beach house or condo with excellent rental opportunities within 4 hours of charlotte.
