I've never been, and am looking for some advice on what would make a nice overnight trip to the islands of NC coast? I live in Wilson, so getting to a ferry is about a 2 hour ride, and then across to the islands.
I was looking for some advice on the best out-of-the way places, and staying cheap until I get to know what's there?
why use the ferry? just take 64 east (or 264) into Maneo go across the bridge and choose a direction, North or south, and your less then two hours away in wilson nc. If you just want to get to ocracoke then id use the cedar island ferry other wise why waste the money.
I was interested in trying to get to Ocracoke because it looks less developed than some of the places you can get to by driving? Reminds me of Marsh Harbor or some of the lesser known Bahamas destinations.
