I basically been looking at other threads and I never can get a good description of Wilmington. Some say its safe others say it isn't I'm looking to move in the 28412 area of Wilmington and I would like to know if it a safe area to move in. Thanks for your reply

That area code goes from Pine Valley to the Snow's Cut bridge (at Carolina Beach). For the most part it is just a lot of subdivisions, neighborhoods and properties along the river side of College Rd/Carolina Beach Rd. Save for a couple subdivisions (which really aren't bad), it's all safe.

Define your criteria for safety. If it means zero crime, that won't happen. OTOH, I believe in factual data like this: http://www.spotcrime.com/search.php?...=1360j487808j5

Yes there is crime in that zip code, but the reports are mainly arrests and property crimes like theft. There is not a lot of violence against persons. The zip also covers a wide area from close-in Market Street, includes the hospital area, and down south to the Carolina Beach border. There are many affluent areas, but also business areas where the thefts occur. If I needed to move there, I would not have any problem living in the zip code. The further south one goes in the zip, the fewer crimes, as it transitions from commercial to residential: http://spotcrime.com/nc/wilmington

The area you're talking about probably sees less crime than other areas of the city. That said, Wilmington (like every other city) is as safe as you make it. If you're wondering the streets a 3 AM or getting mixed up with bad people, then no, it's not going to be safe. If you make smart decisions and stay out of trouble, then I wouldn't worry about it at all.
