I currently live in Texas but lived in Virginia Beach for 7 years before moving here. I am moving back to the East Coast in a couple weeks and was considering North Carolina over Virginia Beach. I was wondering how far Elizabeth City area is to any beach. I wanna be where I can make decent money, live in a decent area, and be close to the water without all the toursits and extremely high cost of living. Any city or town idea or suggestions would be great. Like I said as close to water as I can get while staying close to Virginia... Thanks

If you look at a map, you will see that Eliz City is very close to the Coast as well as not far from Tidewater. It's also on some inland waterways. Go to Google maps and put in Elizabeth City NC and you'll get a nice map.

Im just trying to find a good city without having to go back to the big city of Virginia Beach where I know alot of people... Any sugestions?

If by water you mean beaches from EC it's about an hour drive to VA Beach and 45 minutes to the outer banks. Chesapeake's a lot closer, not touristy, and parts of it are fairly inexpensive. Unless you're in the Coast Guard or associated with ECSU there's not a lot of job opportunities in Elizabeth City.
