Does anyone know what kind of marker this is in the lower right corner of the photo? White w/ reddish orange on top. It's on US 264 in Hyde Co.

If it's a utility marker, what kind?

Yup, looks like the last of what was probably at one time, many buried phone cable markers. When the state cuts the grass they knock them over and chew them up.

It's CenturyLink fiber. They have (IIRC anyway) an OC-48 that runs from Greenville to the Outer Banks along that path.
