Joe Bastardi and Accuweather gave great in depth analysis of the storm and what it would do and where it was going. From what he said it was going to pound the coast from NC through Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey and then New York moving just west inland. Thats coming a little too close inland for my comfort but should weaken it a little.
The weather channel is always hype hype hype. They want to paint a doomsday scenario and this is pretty close to one for the northeast/ NYC area. Its not as bad as it could be but certainly a storm that could do a lot of damage to areas that haven't seen a hurricane like that in decades.
NYC and Philly getting hit by 100 MPH wind gusts will get more coverage than beach houses being knocked down.

We have to look at the number of people effected. The coast of NC is somewhat use to this. We have seen worst. The Northeast has no idea what they are in for. Consider that DC has roughly 600,000.

By the way, I cannot believe they put Cantori in NYC and not here. Bad decision by TWC.
Why in the world would you want Cantori in NC? That man is such a drama queen.

Seems they have someone on Kills Devil Hills now. When they showed the potential paths 3 (a majority) had it plowing through Carteret county and the rest of the heart of Eastern NC. I wonder how long until they put someone on Radio Island.

I've seen it too many times-The focus gets shifted. Instead of being concerned with being the biggest, best at tv weather their concern is generating the most ad dollars. It changes what you cover and how you cover it.
Don't get me wrong. I'm a capitalist. But I believe that when you stay focused on your purpose the audience and dollars will come. But If you focus on the dollars your purpose gets lost and so does your audience.

you are correct. they seem preoccupied with its potential effect on the northeast.

What else do you want TWC to say about coastal NC? There are far more people affected by this hurricane tracking into NYC and the surrounding area, combined with the fact that because the heavily populated east coast hasn't seen a potentially devastating weather event in decades, it is news. It would be bigger news if the storm grew into a Cat. 4 and slammed into NYC, the financial center of the world. It would be devastating to a huge population and would have ripple effects throughout the world.

Coastal Carolina is familiar with hurricanes, NYC/DC/Boston is not.
