I am, personally. It shifted a bit west today, and I see no reason to wait to find out if stuff will be flying at the house overnight on Saturday. What say you?

11AM update from NHC tracks the storm right over Harker's Island. Let's see if the forecast keeps bringing it to the west.

I don't want to be a total alarmist but the NOGAPS model is a little scary:

And these things do get more accurate as time goes by.

I have no plans to leave Wilmington unless it strengthens to a Cat 4. Getting out of town isn't difficult but getting back in after major storm damage is a pain and in some cases impossible if police block the roads.

Lessons learned from Fran and Bertha.

And if you let enough time go by then they can be 100% accurate. Seems to be the tactic of the Weather Channel 7 local weathermen.

A good point was brought up by a local on regards to staying on NPR/PRE today. Back in the day you did but have any choice but to stay because by the time you knew about the storm it was too late leave. Because of this most nastiness or long time residents have a set of skills and experience for weathering the storm. It's funny to see how composed my parents and father-in-law, who live in Craven and Carteret in Eastern Craven and Carteret counties are compared to people who live in the Triangle where I currently reside.
