My family and I are researching some NC areas to potentially move to. We've narrowed it down to five, 2 of which belong in this forum... Whiteville and Ash.

I can't really find much on either of them via the internet so I was hoping I could get some more from you all!

Our primary concerns are safety and schools. Those would probably be the 2 biggest deciding factors.

Thanks in advance

Thanks to googlemaps, It seems whiteville may be okay away from downtown and Ash is more like I'm used to in PA... real tiny town in the mountains with next to know crime.

Whiteville (pronounced Wytvul by the residents) is a place people move away from, not to. It's not exactly modern and the unemployment and salary statistics aren't good. Ash is rural, sparcely populated and is dominated by agriculture. If you like country living and you aren't concerned about making money then either might fit your lifestyle. I doubt crime rates are high and housing is dirt (pun intended) cheap.

Thanks. Ash might be more to our liking. Currently we live in a small town, with any sort of possibility for work is 20-30 minutes away so we're used to a small commute.

Sounds like we'd just be trading in small town for country

I don't know of anyone moving to Wytevul, but I haven't heard of Ash. Looks like Ash is close to Shalotte and Calabash.

Your nearest "bigger" town for Whiteville is Lumberton. Nooope.
