We are a family of five, interested in moving to the Wilmington area. Two questions are of prime interest: what water access communities are the most family friendly and the best value; next what is the top high school private or public? Anyones help is greatly appreciated!
To answer your second question Bear High is the best academically, in large part due to how small it is. Hoggard is the top large high school (which is commendable considering it's the largest high school in New Hanover). The rest of the high schools in New Hanover aren't bad, per se'. If your child already has a strong academic basis they can excel there. If your child is more middling and has troubles academically they will be what they are, if that makes sense.
Thanks for the response! Any ideas on the best family friendly waterfront communities? My kids are outdoors constantly playing, running, exploring, being kids but respectful and considerate of others. Hope to hear soon!
Might want to explore Hampstead -
Topsail High is known to be a good school -
Lots of good water access -
Will you be working right in Wilmington?
Good luck with your search and possible move!
