I was acquainted with Toby personally back when I still lived in town, and I can tell you he comes across exactly the same in real life as he does in American Splendor and Anthony Bourdain's show. None of that is an act or made up, that is who he is.

Toby also starred in a low-budget movie titled "Revenge of the Killer Nerds". If you can find it, it's well worth a watch.

I'll definitely look it up! Are you a former Clevelander? How did you like the CLE-Chicago transition? I'm doing the exact opposite!

My dad was interviewed on PBS for a show called Need to Know a few weeks ago. The episode is called "Help Wanted". It's about people who lost their job and what they did to find another one and how they struggled with unemployment in the Cuyahoga County (Cleveland) area. His name is Clyde Wilson. He's throughout the whole video.
