Hi all. I almost posted this on the Charleston forum, but decided to hold off and read through some more of the rules, and came across this forum. I'm hoping this is the appropriate place to post this.
My wife and I were visiting the Charleston area last week, and stopped on Edisto Island, not far from Edisto Beach State Park, to hang out on the beach for a while. We parked in a small sand parking area around the 800 block of Highway 174/Palmetto Boulevard (those are the names Google Maps gives the road), almost directly across from Dawhoo Street. We went left from the parking lot onto the beach, walking about 50-100 feet before settling in. As we were leaving, we stopped to watch a bunch of baby sea turtles leave the nest and head out to sea. This was a priceless experience, but unforunately it came with a price - my wife's wedding band.
Somewhere on the beach or in the parking lot, the ring fell out of our beach bag (an admittedly poor place to store it, but that wasn't my decision). We only went about 200-300 feet to the right of the parking lot when we went to see the turtles, so the linear area we covered was less than 400 feet. The picture below shows the approximate area we covered, from just a little past Dawhoo Street to just shy of Cheehaw Street. The pipes that jut into the ocean around this area are the absolute farthest we walked.
If any kind soul in the area has a metal detector and some free time, I'm hopeful that the ring is still out there. We're willing to offer a cash reward to whoever finds it, and willing to drive back down there to get it. (We live a couple hours away, but obviously it's important to us that we get it back.) I know the chances are pretty slim that this will work, but I figure the odds are even lower if I don't try. If you have any questions, or think you may be able to help in any way, please feel free to post to this thread or direct message me. Thanks, and take care.
I googled the other day looking for a lost graduation ring from the 70's. There are some message board type web pages for lost and found jewelry. Try posting there too.
My husband found a ring. Can you describe what you lost?
OP is from 2009.
