This is typically a very interesting forum comparison. Columbus and Charlotte share many similarities ...
Both are progressive cities that continue to experience rapid expansion, attracting new residents and business.
Both of these cities ( as all do ) also provide individual pros and cons alike.
It's been awhile since an informative thread has been started concerning these two "star cities" ... so I felt that given the ongoing interest, this match up was once again warranted.
Instead of discussing something as mundane as the differences in these two cities individual climates ( we all know their locations ), I thought it best to emphasize what truly makes each of these cities so special to so many ... and share any concerns as well.
Since these two locations are attracting so many new residents, it's another very worthwhile comparison.
It's often a very passionate forum too ... something I have enjoyed immensely, as advocates of both Columbus and Charlotte have much to talk about!

Default Easton Towne Center, Columbus

Here are photos of one of the major "new" shopping centers in Columbus.
The Easton Towne Centre, located adjacent to the I-270 outerbelt at Morse Road in the northern portion of the city.
This regional mall would be comparable with Charlottes "Southpark Mall"

Charlotte is growing a LOT faster than Columbus. Maybe by Midwestern standards Columbus is a fast-growing city, but Charlotte's growth rate is more than triple that of Columbus. Since 2000 Charlotte has grown by over 30% while Columbus has grown by 10%.

And the difference is only widening. In 2008 Charlotte had a net in-migration of 40,000 while Columbus had a net in-migration of 6,000.

Very true.

It's just exciting seeing so many positive changes happen in your city right before your eyes, and that's the case with Charlotte.

What's interesting is that Columbus is the 16th biggest city in the US, while Charlotte is 18th. So, it will be interesting to see if Charlotte catches up to Columbus in terms of population by Census time.
