Where in Canada from SFO?...I’m showing 957 air miles to Vancouver (vs 2259 listed below)...also, are there no flights to Tijuana?—I’m showing 517 air miles if so (vs 1881 listed below for Mexico).
I’m wondering about this too. It’s 2,500 miles from Montreal to San Francisco, and Montreal is the Easternmost major city in the country. From my experience, SF is not a popular destination among Quebecers.
Meanwhile, Montreal is the closest Canadian destination from Miami, and the listed distance is in line with that.
I do appreciate the compiling of that list, however. It’s just hard to paint an accurate portrait when including such large countries.
And yes, I am aware that the results would still largely show SF having a larger average distance.

That was one reason, among others, why I moved back East from CA....closer to more places where I vacation with more nonstops—NYC, Caribbean, Latin / South America and Europe.

Both CSAs have 33 foreign countries with 100,000+ immgrants living there--Among the 10 largest groups of each, Bay Area newcomers travel much longer distances on average...

Wow Miami has a really great location. Thanks for this.
.
Youre very welcome. This really put things into perspective for me in regards to the notion of 'abroad', it takes much more effort to get to San Francisco. All 10 of Miami's top 10 immigrant concentrations from countries located in this hemisphere while only 3 of San Francisco's top 10 are in this hemisphere. Why don't more Europeans live in Miami, I wonder? SF has more Germans, French, English, Russian, Ukrainian, Portuguese etc. I found that strange considering how much focus in this thread has been dedicated to hot and rich Europeans. But I digress.
Oh, Just to put things into further perspective:
Immigrant Communities with 10,000+ persons from Countries in the Americas:
Miami 23 out of 30
San Francisco 8 out of 30

Where did you get your stats?...and are you comparing the city of SF to the city of Miami OR the SF Bay area to only the city of Miami...for an apple to apples comparison it would need to be either city v city OR SF Bay Area v Miami /So Fla area--as in MSA (which would include Ft Lauderdale up through Palm Beach).
Slightly dated and not quite exactly apples to apples, but from what I found below, in the case of Russians as of 2016 Miami had 400,000 Russian speaking residents; as of 2014, SF Bay area had only 40,000....has SF made up that big gap and overtaken Miami in the past several years?
What about other countries mentioned...Would love to see the source used, where and what criteria (geographical designation for both cities as well as expats vs. 3rd or 4th generation xxx-American) were used for French, English, German, Italian, etc. given the Russian discrepancy above.
Agree, there are far more countries in closer proximity to Miami (heck, the Caribbean represents 26 different countries by itself).
Thanks

Yeah I would be very weary of non-official govt stats. I used the 2019 census bureau estimates from data.census.gov
And I compared the 2 CSAs. To say you have 400,000 Russian speakers seems really dubious since you dont have anywhere near that many Russians. Ijs.

The 400,000 figure was taken directly from the article link I attached...would love to find official stats for both cities. Seems they exist for international visitors; residents from various countries is a tad harder to uncover. CSA to CSA is good.

Okay but this is a screenshot from the Census Bureau's website and the Miami CSA had approx. 39,000 Russian speakers in 2018.
