Since my post above was deleted for posting cities outside North America that were on the list, I'll repost just the North American cities and where they ranked in the study in 2017. The number to the right of the city name is how many ranks each city gained or lost since their 2012 study. Keep in mind this study is done every single year.

Why would San Francisco and Boston drop 6 spots since 2012, yet be 1 and 5 in Global Outlook? Were the past five years bad for both, or were they just outpaced by other cities outside N. America?

NYC and London are always neck and neck for that #1 spot
LA is bigger but Chicago has grown faster in terms of adding new corporate headquarters/branches and remaining more diverse from a business perspective. Downtown Chicago has also been growing much faster than LA (even if the metro area as a whole has been stagnant and the depressed areas are depopulating.)

I wonder why Dallas seems to rank low on lists like this when it's the largest economy by GDP and metropolitan area by population in the South? It also ranks the lowest of the big Southern 4 when it comes to international travel, and if someone had to rank to the big Southern 4 in terms of prominence, I'm sure Dallas would come in last once again.
Dallas is a economic juggernaut, but it lacks something Houston, Atlanta, and Miami have. I can't put my finger on it. Almost like an identity.

I thought Dallas always had the higher GDP? I might be wrong then, but my point still stands. Dallas lacks in prominence despite being an economic juggernaut.
Atlanta should be behind Dallas and Houston is all seriousness. And feel like Mexico city should be higher. Montreal has done very well for itself. A beautiful city.
