It's an incredible city. I'm there usually on average at least once a month and its about 250 miles away.

Which is really unfair, because people praise the Texas cities, yet they have the exact same crime issues as Chicago with hardly any of the positives to make up for it. Chicago has jobs and good food just like anywhere in Texas, and better for the most part.

The media hammers Chicago on crime and it spills into here. It’s clearly an issue

Houston and Dallas are probably going to pass Chicago in population soon. One by city the other by metro. It’s gonna be a thing to celebrate I think

This is a couple of years old, so I imagine with all the illegal immigrants we have coming in, it certainly may help boost the population of these cities. The attached is interesting. Pretty sure the numbers will be even higher now.

Also an influx of Ukrainians: https://chicagoreader.com/news-polit...ull-scale-war/

I've told people younger than me that NYC probably isn't as great of a stepping stone after college as it used to be as the opportunities are there, but the cost of living has really, really outpaced wage increases. Urban living in a vibrant city I think is much better overall, but I think the places to be now are probably Chicago and Philadelphia which are still urban, walkable cities that are very lively and have tons of opportunities and meanwhile aren't wildly expensive as NYC has become.
