Sometimes an airport size is an indicator of how important and significant a city is, which is why some people like to bring it up in conversation...But in Oakland's case, a large part as to why it has more flights than Sac and SJ is to ease congestion at SFO

It probably has more to do with the 2.5 million people that live in the East Bay, much more than the San Jose area.

Oakland, San Jose, and Sac all have the same top selling point:
"We are close to SF".
No one in LBC brags about being near LA. It is a SoCal city on the coast. The end. Game over. If you want to be pale with no tan and not be around good looking people, move to Oakland.
What is Long Beach's sphere of influence? I'm trying to get a gauge on the true size and influence of the city, in terms of population. For example, Oakland, Fort Worth, and Newark NJ are all secondary cities but have an immediate influence of roughly 2.5 million, if they were their own metros...
