I was raised there. I think the posters boost it up to something it's not.

I guess that makes them slow paced

Get out of here with that nonsense.

Walk out of union station on Adams street or jackson.

Then compare that to walking out of DC union station.

DC might as well be richmond.

Washington DC has a much higher percentage of White Collar workers, hence why it can "go toe to toe on transit".

Also, Washington DC certainly has smaller borders than Chicago, but does that make it more compact? It certainly isn't as densely populated, I guess it just depends on how you define "compact"
Let me try to break it down to you. The city is only 61 square miles with 20% of that parkland. That means more than 500,000 people come into the city from 7am to 7pm bringing its total population to almost 1.2 million. 1.2 million people are in an area the size of Chicago's west side. Chicago is 4 times the size of DC at 240 square miles. Chicago also has 4 times the population of DC. For Chicago to reach this critical mass, it would have to bring in more than 2 million people every day. It doesn't.

LLS@Something it's not! You are hilarious. Tell that to the people who are buying million dollar rowhouses in iffy neighborhoods.

Chicago, no question. There's too much government influence in DC, and the government is too lethargic by nature.

As for DC being the "most important" city, I think we saw clearly during the bailouts who really runs this country and who simply does what they're told.
