We all know that the USA is king when it comes to BBQ. (Australia & South Korea can't compare. And grilling =/= BBQ!)

Tell me where do I need to go in your city to get some good BBQ chicken, a side of ribs, a chunk of smoked brisket and some pulled pork? What kind of sides am I going to I expect? Is it at your house? Or is it in your 'secret' part of town?

Is it too controversial to include Arizona in this poll? There seems to be a lot of passion coming from that direction.

Enough questions. I want to get fat!!!

Edit: My apologies to South Carolina. I forgot to include it in the poll when I put down North Carolina. If I could edit the poll, I would either place that option above North Carolina or fuse the two into Carolina barbecue (while acknowledging the two are still different).

I don't care much for the Carolina vinegar based BBQ Pork. I like the beef and the briskets so I'm going to go with Texas here, though I haven't to Memphis yet so one visit there might change my mind. I had no idea Arizona was grilling up BBQ with passion. I'd sure would like to know where in Arizona.

I second that (though I voted for North Carolina anyway). Their tangy mustard-based barbecue is to dye for.

I'm also a fan of Alabama-style white barbecue sauce.

Ah! I knew I was forgetting something. If I could edit the poll, I would rename North Carolina to just Carolina. Thank you for point that out.

That said, my vote is going towards Memphis. There's something so succulent about the way they cook their meat.

Though the owners I believe are from North Carolina, the best BBQ I've ever had was at Smokey's BBQ & Diner in Oklahoma City.

Thank you for being the first person to actually answer my question.

I am actually looking for some restaurant recommendations. Anyone who voted for Texas care to recommend us some joints?

I voted for Texas. The BBQ spots around Austin are the best IMO. Lockhart, Bastrop, luling, marble falls, Elgin, etcetera.

I think smittys in Lockhart gets most of attention. Followed by muellers, city market in luling, blacks, salt lick, and some more.
