Denver now has commuter rail to DIA (airport) with 3 other lines going on-line in the next year or so. Denver's system is unique because it is the only city outside the East Coast and Chicago that is electrified (S.F. and then LA plan to join the electrified commuter rail party in the near future)... Denver's lines, though, are mostly short, with the new, up-and-running DIA line, at 23 miles, being the longest, and the 6-mile Westminster line being the shortest (though the long term plan is to extend this service 30+ miles to Boulder and beyond, but the funding won't be there for some time for this).
Denver's commuter rail system also meshes with it's greatly expanded LRT system which has lines of up to 18 miles long itself.
( Toronto is located on the shores of Lake Ontario, so no routes to the south. ).
I'm sure that Wynn-er of a Premier could find the money to extend rail service over Lake Ontario to Rochester, to replace the on-and-off ferry services that financially (not literally since we're talking about ships) go under periodically.
shame they don't also have the Septa lines on this
