The City that I think should be growing faster out of the bunch is Chicago because consistantly it has been losing population by the decade which is crazy.Atlanta is a city that is at a stand still around 400,000 people for the past 20 yrs and Dallas being at a million for 20yrs as well doesn't make any sense to me.
San Antonio is a city that has surpass Dallas city population but the metro as a whole isn't growing as fast as I think it should.Chicago really needs to make a push or a city in south with be claiming that
#3 spot and that is Houston.

This is not true...looks like we have another misguided thread gearing up.

I guess you aren't aware that city limits population is hardly ever considered to be a valid statistic, especially not when discussing comparisons.

Chicago gained population in the 2000 census.

Where did you cite the Census Bureau? It looks like just a posting of what you think is correct. Atlanta was the 15th fastest growing large city in the U.S. from 2010 to 2011: Newsroom: Population: Texas Dominates List of Fastest-Growing Large Cities Since 2010 Census, Census Bureau Reports

I'm pretty sure that is not considered to be "at a standstill".

We'll see. Lucky for Chicago is that its economy has diversified so it can hold on well if it loses population.

But since so many people are moving to Texas It's surprising that Dallas grew by so little in the past 10 years.

Chicago has gained population in the last year actually, and its diversified economy will always keep it in the game, which is great.

Its not like its Detroit or something.

Atlanta

Its not keeping pace with the trend of other Southern cities that are leaving it in the dust.

I can understand Chicago not growing much as it is an already fully matured city.

Atlanta is not able to annex because of all the other cities and towns that have locked it in.....City limits is not a good place to look in this case. The metro is growing fast enough...Think the cities you listed are growing well...

Atlanta will only be in the picture as far as the metro growth but staying at 400,000 people in Atlanta city limits along is Ludacris. All those trees that are standing up in the Atl city limits could be build infrastruture of homes/condos so don't make excuses for Atlanta.A city called Spring and Woodlands out side of Houston are about 1/2 sq mi and each city along have around 60,000 so yes if Atlanta want to populate more it could don't blame on the burbs or metro.
