Okay, can everyone in Philly tell me what is so beautiful about it (not being sarcastic, I would really like to visit again)? I only visited Philly twice and was very unimpressed. I saw the area by the "Rocky" museum and Rittenhouse and loved it but everywhere else looked dirty. I was very disappointed by Broad St., South St., neighborhoods in North Philly/South Philly and some other major areas that I can't remember the names of. Overall, I think it's a great city but for its size and location, lacking behind the other cities in the area like DC, Baltimore (only the inner harbor area), Boston, and NYC. I like the city's skyline, but was I the only one that got the "dirty" city feel.
Depends on what you like. My siblings don't like Philly and will never come back. They all prefer the newer look of cities like DC. But I've always liked Philly because there's no place like it. It would be a shame if they transformed most of the city, even most of Center City, into a sterile yuppie cesspool like DC.
I don't agree that there are photo opportunities in Boston that Philadelphia cannot compete with. How could you say that? The reverse is also true; there aren't photo opportunities in Philadelphia that the Boston does not have an equal. Saying so starts an unnecessary pi$$ing match that neither area could win.

I think he may have been implying what you said in the previous sentence. Both are very similar, but have opportunities that the other cannot match due to physical layout/geographical location.
Both cities are amazing, but Philadelphia with its historic sites and wonderful buildings; for example city hall and the museum of art give it the edge.
