The world knows America by what is produced and broadcast from Los Angeles. Chicago comes in second as usual = the 2nd city behind the huge shadow cast by New York and LA.
Not sure (comment in red above) is something to be proud of.

And BTW, admittedly, NYC casts a shadow on Chicago (and LA). It's the only U.S. city most (many) Chicago have -- if asked about-- an honest inferiority complex about, which says a lot. I'm not sure any Chicagoans feel that way about LA. In fact, Chicagoans primary point of reference to LA is the same statement above in red, for better or worse.

No one knows the name, they just recognize the design and know its from Chicago. heck, I didn't even know the name until after a quick google search

Hey, popular culture has its good and bad points but that is what America is about: free expression. That unrestricted message is actually admired by much of the world except those who want to repress free speech [i.e. Taliban, Communist China, Saudi Arabia, etc.]. But every crude movie or TV show is matched by films and programs that have greatly improved the world. I think one of the reasons civil rights occurred in America was partly due to what Hollywood produced. Now the issue of gays in America is being strongly influenced by how Hollywood [both movies and television] portray homosexuals. That message goes well beyond America's borders.

Los Angeles is where writers, producers, actors, musicians live in huge numbers. LA is one of the most liberal and progressive cities in the U.S.

Here are some photos of Los Angeles landmarks. Some may be obvious while others are less familiar but overall they are a good glimpse of LA:

Pacific Design Center. It is still under construction

Griffith Pk Observatory

Los Angeles City Hall

Beverly Hills City Hall

Pasadena City Hall

Rose Bowl

Santa Catalina Island - Avalon Casino

Dana Point Harbor

Palm trees and beaches

Your jealousy knows no bounds! Do you want us to post photos of Chicago's slums as a response to your envy of Los Angeles? Sorry I won't drop to your level of desperation.
