The archdiocese of Los Angeles is the largest in the nation. Southern California is strongly Catholic.

Practicing Catholics? I'd say metro areas like Cincinnati, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Kansas City, New Orleans, and the Southwest

San Antonio is twice the size of El Paso.

By percentage, the two Texas cities are probably very close in number of Catholics.

In terms of practicing and more devout it seems to be areas that are in or near the Bible Belt. This mainly is areas along the Gulf Coast and Lower Midwest.
