The Dayton Lane area in Hamilton is the first area that came to mind when I thought of Hamilton, based on the OP comments. As aquila said, watch the neighborhoods. I have 2 boys who have lived in Hamilton for 8 and 10 years. We have made many trips there and are acutely aware of that. In fact we are currently considering the pros and cons of moving down to join them. Dayton Lane is an area where our oldest son said he would love to move if he could have afforded the price for a first home (after 7 years of renting in Hamilton, so he was familiar with the area). Here is a link to the neighborhood associations website. Good luck in your search.

Thanks for all the insight. I'm driving over your way tomorrow. I'll check again when I arrive to see what others say. I appreciate your time and advice. I'll start in Oxford and, if as one of you said, there's not much there in terms of apartments for faculty members, work my way down to Hamilton and Fairfield and so forth.

Lewis, if you want I can talk to my brother to get a feel for what may be in the Oxford area. Then I could give you a head's up.

Also, something else to keep in mind is that you really have to look at the local classifieds, so pick up an Oxford Press when you're in town, as well as a Hamilton Journal-News. Sometimes you'll see ads for apartments in out-of-the-way places you may not think about looking, and which aren't exactly in town....but they're close enough. For example, about 5 years ago I lived in an apartment in Seven Mile, which is a small village north of Hamilton along US 127. I saw the ad for it in the Hamilton Journal-News. Nice apartment. So situations like that are a consideration.

Good luck!
