Day trips from cincinnati/Northern Ky area

Didn't re-read the whole thread, so hope I'm not repeating. Springfield, Oh. has a restored Frank Lloyd Wright house and the Wittenberg campus is enjoyable to wander around on.

Madison, IN is a nice day trip spot. There are several bed & breakfast inns there, I believe some of them are open for tours in the daytime. There are 1-2 historical sites downtown. Clifty Falls (which another poster mentioned) is close by, as is Hanover College, which has a nice campus that overlooks the Ohio River. They have a boat regatta on the river every summer & an arts festival there in the fall and the town is really hopping at those times. Otherwise, it's usually laid back & kind of sleepy.

One of my favorite memories was going there while in college during the filming of Some Came Running. It was a big-time Hollywood production and seemed to envelope the entire town.

During the same trip we had gone to the French Lick Jazz Festival at the big hotel in French Lick. There were many college kids there from all over. We slept in a station wagon on the hotel grounds and carried most of our food in an old Coca-Cola cooler. Not much food but a lot of beer. After the jazz festival concluded on Saturday, on Sunday we drove to Clifty Falls and took a quick look around. We then took a drive into Madison looking to cross the Ohio river and return to Cincinnati on the KY side. That was when we encountered the film crew. Madison was stop-and-go every inch of the way. Great memories from a long time ago.

One thing about Cincy, they always manage to continue to build great for the people even when all else looks bleak. I think you're right. It's a fun, interesting, and unique city for tourists. The secret has to get out at some point.

Those stored value cards are replacing 10-trip cards, which you should still be able to purchase and might be useful. It's certainly better than the exact change system.
