To all my formite freinds,

Wishing you a safe and happy New Years Eve.

My wife and I have invited some of her more entertaining relatives over for a little "celebration"

As one of the few participants who does not drink, I like having a little fun with my more "liberal" relatives ( is libation a root of liberal )

Anyway, I thought I would share an email I sent to them all this morning.

"As one of the few participants of this evening of debauchery who will remain quite sober, let me direct your attention to a more serious matter;

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millennium

It would appear that all of you in your drunken stupors incorrectly celebrated the end of the millenium during new years celebrations in 2000. In fact the millenium did not officially end until 11:59pm and 59 seconds at the end of the year 2000.

To those who still follow the gregorian calendar and wish to correct this error,
we will re-celebrate the ending of the 2nd millenium this evening.

Afterall, humanity only has once every thousand years to get this right".

Should be an interesting evening.

(pray for me )

Wait until they're looped, and give them a Y2K scare for old time's sake.

~June can almost hear you singing this, all the way down there in Maryland, amidst the sound of sizzling bacon....

You know, one glass of champagne at midnight won't kill ya...June, in fact, highly recommends it. If anything, it can tend to facilitate tidings of 'comfort and joy' along with, well, extra bacon come morning.

~June shall be checking back in around the "stroke of midnight" in order to glean reports of your progress and outcome!

Happy New Year, my dear friend, to you and Mrs. Oakback!

~~Please know you have an atheist friend up here in New England who is forever grateful for your ongoing friendship and presence here. --And who, most of all, cherishes the fact that year after year, after year, she is still honored and blessed with the fact that she can both call you her friend, as she wishes you a Happy New Year.

....In all it's wonderous, mysterious anonymity and grateful beauty!

Take gentle bacon-filled New Year's care!

Dear June,

I will finish 2009 with hopes of your continued friendship through the next decade.

You are a true blessing to me, and I cherish our relationship.

During the debauchery () I shall retain visions of mild monks, while I keep turning the volume down on the like of this;

Happy Jesus New Year! Remember, Children of God are to separate from unrighteousness.

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. - Ephesians 5:11

Thank you. It'll certainly be safe as we're in for the evening. I do have a nice bottle of champagne chilling, but for mimosas. Any excuse to power-juice fresh oranges. There's smoked fish for hors d'oeuvres too, if I'm up to it.

Since Japan gets there first:
