My Prayer Request for 2009 and Beyond
By Mark Seay

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus,

As I recall the Genesis account of Noah and the Flood. Mankind's
wickedness and violence precipitated a cataclysmic reaction from
God. That was a lot of rain!

I was reminded at a most basic level that it matters how human beings
think, live, and act. More specifically, it matters how I think, live,
and act. God is neither indifferent nor inexhaustibly indulgent toward
us. It matters how we live because our actions can trigger tragic
consequences for those around us if we live contrary to God's will. On
the other hand, Noah reminds us that one man who loves God and lives
for Him can be dramatically used to bless the entire earth. One man or
woman is all God needs to rescue a place, a race, or just one face.

Just as sobering is the "second act" of Noah's life.

Despite Noah's love for God and the redemptive way God used his life,
Noah did not lose his propensity for self-centeredness. Neither do we.
Noah was a righteous man, he was God's man, but he was still a fallen
man. Despite the fact that God literally put him in the captain's seat
to heroically ride out one of the most tragic and redemptive events in
human history, when the flood waters receded Noah had to decide afresh
to live the next chapter of his life for God. Whatever great blessing
or accomplishment God has given us, we cannot let it open a door for
careless living. Each day, fresh with promise and fresh with hope,
demands a sober life of carefulness and cautiousness, lest we forget
who we are and what we can become.

This is precisely why those of you who pray, volunteer, or give to this
ministry are so important. As a flood of shame and sin washes across the
prisons of America and the world, you, like Noah, are a strategic part of
God's redemptive plan. You are a living rainbow--a reminder that God is a
God who loves deeply enough to rescue a drowning world for Himself. We need you, and God calls you to live each day afresh with sober passion and decisiveness for Him.

Would you pray for me, Mark, that I would walk carefully and deliberately
before God?

Ask God how you might grow closer to Him through an opportunity to minister to those in prison or their children.

Ask God to supply my ministry's financial needs in these tight economic times.

Give thanks with all of our readers for the open doors of ministry that we
have in prisons. Ask God to keep them open and to grant Lighthouse Prayer Line continued access to men and women behind bars.

Thank you for kneeling with me. Without you, my heart and hands would grow weary in the work.

In His grace,

"Jesus answered and said unto
him, If a man love me, he will keep
my word: and my Father will love
him, [.and we will come unto him, and
make our abode with him. He that
loveth me not keepeth not my words:
and the word which ye hear is not
mine, but the Father's who sent me.
These things have I spoken unto you,
while yet abiding with you"
(John 14:23-25).

I am saddened by the fact that a lot of people...
end up disillusioned or bitter because of prayers
not granted, see God as an uncaring God who doesn't
answer prayers, stopped praying, assuming their
prayers won't be granted anyway or worse, think
God does not exist at all:
